JOEL STURROCK

Joel Sturrock is an actor, dancer and award winning choreographer and producer. An alumnus of Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the Canadian College of Performing Arts, he completed a choreography mentorship under Artistic Director Jacques Lemay (Artistic Director '88 Olympics & Creative Advisor 2011 Vancouver Olympics), and has since worked across North America and Europe as a performer, choreographer, dance consultant and movement coach. 
 
He is currently the choreographer for the film, Corner Office, directed by Academy Award Winner Joachim Back and starring Jon Hamm, Sarah Gadon and Danny Pudi and assistant choreographer alongside Louise Hradsky on Motherland Fort Salem. He was the head of the choreography department and dancer casting on Netflix's Julie & the Phantoms. Most notably he was the movement consultant for Start Trek: Beyond starring Idris Elba and Chris Pine and was honoured with the Significant Artistic Achievement Award for Outstanding Choreography and Movement Direction at the Jessie Awards for his work on the play Tender Napalm. Other projects include the Jessie Award winning Bombitty of Errors, Bravofact's The Dancing Cop (Official Selection TIFF 2012), MTV's Dancing with the Hosts partnering Jessi Cruikshank, Hey Ocean!'s Big Blue Wave music video, and feature films Afghan Luke, Afterparty (Indie Award, Canadian Film Fest), and the award winning festival favourite Eadweard starring Sara Canning and Michael Eklund. 
 
Joel is no stranger to screen appearing on such hit TV shows as HBO's The Last of US, Once Upon A Time, DC Legends of Tomorrow, CW's Supernatural, MTV LIVE, Rush, Rogue to name a few and feature films Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Cinemanovels (TIFF Official Selection 13’) with motion capture roles in Night in The Museum 3, Warcraft and Monster Trucks. 

He has performed on stages across North America including Rosie Odonnel's Our Family Cruise onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, Tony Award nominee Johnny Tartaglia's 'Ad-Liberty', Beauty & The Beast (Arts Club), The Shape of Things (20Something Theatre), MOVE: The Company and most recently a North American tour of The Nutcracker Suite partnering Kirov Academy member, T.J. Milne.  

He co-created, choreographed and production designed the award winning 'The True Heroines' web series (now streaming on Hulu Plus) being named 'What to Watch' in USA Today.

Joel is also a sought after instructor and adjudicator across Canada. A guest faculty member of the Vancouver Film School, Canadian Dance Teachers Association, The Canadian College of Performing Arts, McIlroy & Associates and The Vancouver Acting School.
